Mission Statement
The London Light Art Museum was founded to advocate the recognition of Light Art as a legitimate canonical art form, and highlight artists in the field. Those who utilize light as a continuing thread woven throughout their investigative processes and a repeated dialog within their general practice.
Contemporary light based art has a unique challenge in public opinion, it continually straddles the line between fine and functional art. Additionally the space is muddied by design lead works primarily produced for light festivals, to the detriment of those with a fine art practice.
We aim to share how the advancements of light and technology have continually influenced artists since the dawn of humanity.
We are currently a roaming museum utilising meanwhile spaces for exhibitions till we find our long term home, and eventually collate artists into a permanent collection to highlight the importance of light in fine art.
